Paradigm Volleyball believes in the philosophy of collaborative coaching. Paradigm will incorporate various area coaches and college players to help develop and teach the individual and team skills needed to see success on and off the court.
Each Paradigm coach brings a unique amount of game play and coaching experience to practices and tournaments. It is these varying experience levels and unique backgrounds that will allow our players to develop comprehensive volleyball skill sets.
CJ has coached at the college, high school and club level for the past 18 years. After volunteering his time for two seasons at Nazareth College, CJ was named Associate Head Coach at Daemen College in Buffalo, NY. In his 2 seasons at Daemen, the Wildcats won 2 American Mideast Conference North Division Championships compiling an overall record of 55-27. CJ began coaching at the USA Volleyball club level starting in 2005. CJ coached at every age level from 14s - 18s. CJ and Megan Denk started Paradigm Volleyball in September of 2010 to help grow volleyball in the Rochester and surrounding areas. Currently, CJ gives private lessons, runs Paradigm Summer Camps, runs the NOVA Junior Beach Tour and is the Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women. CJ is also the Head Coach for the IREVA Men's Professional PVL team which placed 6th at the Premier Volleyball League National Championships in 2015. CJ continues to play competitively indoors and on the beach.
Haley is starting her first season as a coach here at Paradigm but comes to us with valuable experience in both playing and coaching volleyball. She was the head coach for the Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club (NFVB) 15-1 team back in 2016 as well as assistant coach for the 16-1 team in 2015. She was also a volunteer assistant coach for the Williamsville North High School Girls Volleyball team in 2014 and the Heim Middle School head coach in 2009-2010.
As a player, Haley 5 year varsity starter for the Williamsville North High School team from 2008 thru 2012. She was team captain in 2011 and 2012. She received the following accolades with Williamsville:

Haley also played her club volleyball with NFVB from 2004 to 2012 and was part of a Nationals Qualifying team in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
Laura is starting her second season as a coach here at Paradigm. She was the assistant coach on the Rebellion 16s during the last years 2018-19 Paradigm season. She previously coached for 13 years at Xtreme Volleyball Club, with the most recent 5 years focused at the 16-1 or 16-2 levels. She was also the Bloomfield Varsity Girls Head Coach for 2 years until she left to take care of her recently born son due to his illness.
Laura player her high school volleyball locally at Canandaigua High School, winning 2 Section V titles during her high school career. She played for Xtreme VBC for 5 years during her high school years She went on to start her college volleyball career at Nazareth College as a right side hitter but suffered a severe knee injury that ended her college volleyball playing days after only one year.
This will be Julia's second year with Paradigm. Julia is currently entering her 3rd season as the Midlakes High School Girls Varsity Volleyball head coach. She came to Midlakes after playing her college career for Keuka College. Julia also played for Midlakes during her high school career with a highlight of being named to the Section V Class B 1st team All Star team. She also played her club volleyball at Xtreme Volleyball club during her high school years.
While in college at Keuka, Julia was Assistant Club Director and coach for Keuka Lake VBC for 3 years. She proceeded to become a club coach at Xtreme Volleyball after graduating from Keuka until Xtreme disbanded in 2018. She coached for RAVE Volleyball Club during last years 2018-2019 club season.
Jake currently serves as the Pittsford Sutherland High School Girls Junior Varsity volleyball coach in his second season and assists on the varsity team with Coach Taylor Rivera. Jake was a 5 year varsity volleyball starter for Frontier HS in Buffalo. During his tenure they made 4 sectional appearances, winning 2 Section VI titles. He was named to the WNY All Start team 3 times and holds the record for assists in a game and career assists for Fronter HS. He played college volleyball for 3 years at Nazateth College and 1 year for Universidad Catolica De Valencia in Spain.
Anna was a 4 year varsity starting setter at Midlakes High School leading the Girl's Varsity team to the program's first sectional title in 2012 earning FL East and All Greater Rochester recognition. After graduating in 2014, Anna continued her career playing at Division III Houghton College where she amassed over 3200 assists and earned various E8 and NCCAA honors. Shortly after graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Anna started her coaching career staying with the Highlander's as the Women's Assistant Coach for the 2018 season. At the close of the season, Anna moved back to the Finger Lakes region after accepting a marketing job offer and continues to coach at Midlakes High School as the Girl's Varsity Assistant. This will be Anna's first season with Paradigm.
Mark has nearly 30 years of volleyball coaching experience in both high school, college and club volleyball for girls, boys, womens and mens teams. Mark became the head coach of Bloomfield Girst Varsity Volleyball in 1994 when he and his wife Kathy re-started the program in 1994. He has 20 seasons as head coach in Section V, 17 of which at Bloomfield, with 12 League Titles, 5 Section V Titles, NYS runner-up and NYS champions during his tenure. He had over 250 wins and 8 League Coach of the Year awards.
Mark was also an assistant coach for 3 seasons at the college level, one JUCO regional championship, one ACAA conference championship and one NAC conference runner-up during that time.
He and Kathy also coordinated with a group of parents from Bloomfield and the surrounding Ontario and Monroe County area to start Xtreme Volleyball Club, Inc in 1999. He was their Elite 17s and 18s coach for 18 seasons. He also held the role of Director of Players and Coaches for 17 years and Club Director for 2 years.
Mark and Kathy's daughter Peyton played for Bloomfield HS, becoming a 1st team All-State setter. She was 3rd team Academic All-American at SUNY Canton, where she graduated as the all time assists leader. She as also named 2018-2019 Female Co-Athlete of the year.
Their son Trevor is attending Tompkins Cortland Community College and is a starting pitcher on the school's baseball team.
Taylor Rivera (formerly Melidona)
Taylor is currently the Pittsford Sutherland Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach and has been for the last 2 seasons. She previously coached the Paradigm 15s team for two years before taking last year off to focus on her wedding.
In high school she was a 3 year varsity athlete on West Irondequoit's volleyball team, which included a state championship title. She competed as an attacker, in the outside and opposite positions.
After graduating she competed at California University of Pennsylvania, where she specialized as a DS/libero. Her time at CalU lead to 2 conference titles and making it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament for Division II for 4 consecutive years.
Both on and off the court she was recognized as a leader being named captain at various points in her career, in both high school and college. She also represented her conference, her junior year of college, at the NCAA DII annual leadership conference in Indianapolis.
Her collegiate career also lead to a knowledge base in power lifting, along with other strength and conditioning techniques.
Her coaching experience includes summer camps at CalU and coaching at California Area Middle School.
Jes was a 2-year varsity player at Pittsford Sutherland High School, winning the state championship her junior and senior year. At the State tournament she was selected and awarded the Sportsmanship Award representing her team. She played for several different clubs throughout high school before playing for Paradigm her senior year. She has played both a setter and defensive specialist. She also played high school and AAU softball for the Rochester Revenge.
After graduating in 2015, Jes continued her career playing at SUNY Brockport, where she was a part of the 2015 SUNYAC Champion team. In 2016 she transferred to Monroe Community College and became the starting setter. She received multiple awards: Athlete of the Week, Cara Bryant All-Tournament Team, Western New York Athletic Conference- All Conference Team, and NJCAA Academic Third Team. She graduated from MCC in May 2017. She currently attends Brockport and will be graduating in May 2019 with a degree in Business Administration.
She has been coaching with Paradigm since January 2016. She has been the 15’s assistant for the last two seasons. She also works the summer camps at Paradigm.
Steve was named the women's head volleyball coach at The College at Brockport in April of 2013. In 2014 Brockport finished in the top four in the conference and went to the SUNYAC Semi-Finals for the first time since 2007. The improvement from last(tenth) to fourth in the conference regular season was the biggest jump in one year in SUNYAC Volleyball History. In 2015, Brockport was 34-2 and undefeated in conference regular season. Brockport won the Conference championship for the first time in 21 years. Brockport won its NCAA first round match. He was named 2015 SUNYAC Coach of the Year and AVCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year. For the previous twelve, years he was the head coach at SUNY Potsdam. During his time at Potsdam, the program was the most successful program on campus. He was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2005. His teams qualified for the postseason tournament in six of those seasons, making it to the ECAC finals once for the first time in school history. He has coached the conference rookie of the year twice. In 2010, he took his team to Costa Rica which was the first international trip for volleyball in school history.
Steve is blessed with his wife Heather, children: Nicholas, Brynn and Griffin.
Lori White played collegiality at Edinboro University for four years where her team won two PAC State championships and Two Regional Championships. Upon returning from college Lori played on the Womens Open Western NY Empire B Team for 3 years. She has coached at the Varsity high level for 13 years in the Rochester City School District and is currently coaching JV Volleyball at Spencerport High School.
Marilyn was a 4 year varsity starter at Victor High School. She has been MVP, player of the year, All Greater Rochester, and All State. After graduating in 2008, Marilyn continued her career playing Division II volleyball at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, where she also earned MVP honors. After graduating college in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Marilyn started her coaching career. She currently competes in adult tournaments throughout the year and plays beach volleyball all summer.
Mar started coaching at Mercy High School, doing modified for 2 years. After that, she took over JV for 2 seasons and is currently their JV coach. Marilyn assisted Paradigm 18's her first year, then head coached Paradigm 15's for 2. This past year she lived in California and coached for Momentous Volleyball Club 15-1 out of Irvine.
Mike was previously the head coach of the girls varsity team at Aquinas High School. This year he was named head coach of the Hilton Varsity Girls Volleyball team. Mike has coached the last 2 seasons with Paradigm as head coach of the Uprising 12s and Rampage 13s.
Kailey is a 2019 graduate of SUNY Fredonia where she played for the last 4 years. Prior to that Kaily was a varsity starter for the Our Lade of Mercy HS volleyball team with Coach Denk.
Aime is a 2018 graduate from the SUNY Brockport, where she played as a libero/defensive specialist for the volleyball team during her 4 year college career there. She also was an Assistant Coach for the Siena College volleyball team during the 2019 season. She player her high school volleyball at Columbia High School, were she earned Suburban Council First Team Allstar during her senior year.
Alyse is a 2018 graduate from the University of Hartford, where she played as a middle blocker for the volleyball team during her 4 year college career there. She was also a four-year letterwinner in volleyball at Hilton High School, having being named to All Greater Rochester her senior year.
Mandy is a recent 2020 graduate from the College of Charleston, where she played as a middle blocker for the indoor volleyball team (2017 - 2019 seasons) as well as the beach volleyball team (2018-2020 seasons) during her college career there. She had started her collegiate career at Radford University (2015 - 2016) then transferred to College of Charleston to pursue a new major. She played her high school volleyball at West Irondequoit High School, having being named All-County First Team and All Tournament Team as well as team MVP her senior year (2014-2015).
