Congrats Terese!!!

Revolution at Lone Star

This past weekend Paradigm sent two teams to the Lone Star Qualifier in Dallas, TX. Revolution competed in the 18s National Club Level and Rebellion competed in the National Club Level at the 16s age division.

Coming into the event, several Revolution players were nursing some pretty significant injuries and this event would add two more to the list of injured players. After a hard fought Day #1, Revolution found themselves in the bottom half of the tournament after going 1-2 in their first pool. After going undefeated on Day #2, Revolution found themselves in the Flight 1 playoff bracket. On the first two days of the tournament, all six matches went three sets.

Day #3 came and went quickly. A two set loss was made even worse when outside hitter, Sara Madison went down with a significant sprained ankle after the opposing setter came under the net during the second set. This injury leaves Revolution with only three healthy players heading into the WEVA Bid Tournament this Sunday in Buffalo.

Good Luck Ladies!!

Rebellion at Lone Star

For the young Rebellion team the story of the weekend was inconsistency. On Day #1 and #2, Rebellion struggled to find their stride on offense and in serve receive . This talented group struggled from the start against the top level Texas clubs that they had not seen before. The level of play at the Lone Star Qualifier was intense and it proved why it is considered to be one of the best tournaments in the country every year.

On Day #3 Rebellion came out strong, winning their first playoff match 25-20, 25-10. Strong defense by Juliana Provvidenza and Rebecca Gainsburg coupled with tough serving by Emma Stoltz helped lead them to the straight set victory. However, that would be the last victory for Rebellion on the weekend. The girls dropped their last match in two sets to end their weekend at the Lone Star Qualifier.

Next up for Rebellion is the WEVA Bid Tournament at the BNCC in Buffalo this Sunday April, 29th.

Good Luck Ladies!!

NEQ #2 - Revolution in Baltimore

The ladies of Revolution came out ready to play on Day #1 of the NEQ in Baltimore, MD. Playing inspired volleyball anchored by seniors Shannon Kirkpatrick, Emilyn Kennedy, Maureen Ball and Kacey Richards, Revolution ended Day #1 with a two set victory versus Velocity 18-1s. This win put Revolution in the top half of the tournament for Day #2.

Day #2 saw more great play from the girls as they outlasted their first opponent in three sets. The second match of the day was against our friends, Connecticut Jrs. It was a hard fought three set match, but Revolution fell by just two points in the third set. This loss meant Revolution had to beat an undefeated Austin Juniors team for the right to go to the Gold Playoff Bracket. Once again, the girls battled hard, but fell just two points short in the third set. The loss left Revolution in the Silver Bracket for Easter Sunday's playoffs.

As Day #3 began, both Shannon Kirkpatrick (sprained ankle on Day #2) and Kacey Richards (lower back strain on Day #2) found themselves out and on the bench watching the playoff action. Shaky defense and a lack of firepower found Revolution exiting earlier than expected in the semifinals of the Silver Bracket. Lots of ice and Advil will be the needed in order to get the girls ready for their next big test in two weeks at the Lone Star Qualifier in Dallas, TX.

Best of Luck Ladies!!

NEQ #1 Results - Rebellion

Paradigm Rebellion 16s rallied after losing 2 of their first 3 matches on Day #1 to finish their portion of the Northeast Qualifier with a 6-2 overall record.

The girls played well on Day #2 winning all 3 of their matches in straight sets high lighted by Middle Hitters Alyse Wenzel and Emma Stoltz controlling the net offensively and defensively. Rebecca Gainsburg and Juliana Provvidenza steadied the serve receive as Opposite Katy Braddon crushed balls from both pins.

Day #3 found Rebellion in the Flight 1 playoff bracket. After disposing of NYC Juniors 16s in 2 sets, Rebellion played their best match of the tournament to get past Synergy 16 Navy in straight sets. Setters Meredith Ball and Erin Amborski ran a flawless offense to end the tournament on a very positive note.

Next up for Rebellion is the Lonestar Qualifier in Dallas, TX.

Shannon Kirkpatrick Commits

Revolution 18s Middle Hitter Shannon Kirkpatrick has accepted an athletic scholarship to continue her education and playing career at Binghamton University this fall. Shannon decided on Binghamton after fielding several other offers for both volleyball and basketball.

"I'm really excited," Shannon said. "Binghamton is where I want to be!" Shannon knew she had made the right decision when just minutes after accepting her scholarship, she was bombarded by "Congratulation" text messages and Facebook friend requests from her future teammates.

Along with being a standout volleyball player at Greece Athena High School, Shannon was recently named the MVP of the Section V Class AA Basketball Tournament while leading Greece Athena to a Section V Championship.

Congrats Shanno!!!

Hocus Pocus Results - Ruckus

The second tournament of the season was the VolleyFX Hocus Pocus Tournament that was held here in Rochester, NY. Since there was not a 15s division, Ruckus participated in the 16s division. Some stiff competition awaited them in Pool A on Saturday morning.

Ruckus was placed in the top pool with VolleyFX Charm 16-2s, Lakeside Piranhas 16-1s, and Premiere 16-1s. In this pool, Ruckus showed that they could compete with the best of the 16s by splitting with all three teams. Unfortunately, this was only enough to come out 3rd in the pool because of point differential against VolleyFX Charm 16-2s. Ruckus was then moved to Pool DD which included B-Ville Blast 15-1s, Xtreme Blast 16-2s, and Xtreme Heat 16-1s. The first match against B-Ville Blast 15-1s was a tough 0-2 loss. Ruckus bounced back and put the pool back in their grasp by taking the next match 2-0 against Xtreme Blast 16-2s. This concluded the games for Saturday, giving Ruckus some time to reflect and prepare for Sunday.

The first match of Sunday was a must win for the team. Sadly they fell short and only split with Xtreme Heat 16-1s. This placed Ruckus in 3rd again in the second pool. They would continue Sunday in the silver bracket. Their first match in the quarter finals was against the sole Canadian team, Stratford Volleyball Club. Ruckus battled hard with tons of energy and managed a narrow 2-0 victory. Their next opponent was none other than Paradigm Rebellion 16s! This bittersweet matchup meant that only one team would advance. Ruckus came out loud and proud, trying to intimidate the 16s team. The older and more experienced Paradigm team stood their ground and sadly eliminated our Ruckus girls 2-0.

Finishing in the semifinals of the silver bracket placed Paradigm Ruckus at tied for 11th out of 28 teams overall. In a 16s tournament, this was a great success! The Ruckus crew even stayed to cheer on the 16s team and watch them win the silver bracket.

Congratulations to both Paradigm teams. Lots of skills to practice before we make the trek to DC!

Hocus Pocus Results - Revolution

This weekend was another growth weekend for Revolution 18s as they placed tied for 5th in the VFX Hocus Pocus tournament here in Rochester. The weekend started off strong with a 2 set sweep of an under-manned Legion  Volleyball Club 18-1s in the 1st match of the tournament. After back to back splits with NFVB 15-1s and Academy 18-1s, Revolution moved on to their 2nd pool that included VolleyFX Magic, Lakeside Riptide 17-1s and Long Island Fury 18-1s.

Splitting was the name of the game in Revolution's 2nd pool as the girls split all 3 matches and once again, came out of their pool in 2nd place. This set up a pre-quarterfinal match versus VolleyFX Mystery 18-2s. Mystery fought hard, but Revolution proved too big at the net and overtook the smaller Mystery squad in 3 sets.

Revolution's quarterfinal match versus NFVB 18-2s was the end of the road for the girls on Sunday. After winning the 1st set going away, Revolution dropped a close 2nd set and made too many mental mistakes in set 3 losing 15-11 in the final set. Kacey Richards and Terese Cannon made major impacts throughout the course of the weekend with their steady passing and big swings on the outside, while Emilyn Kennedy continues to improve and impress in her young setting career.

Next up for Revolution is The Capital Hill Classic in Washington, DC February  18-20th.

Kacey Richards Commits

Another memorable day in the short history of Paradigm Volleyball occurred the Monday after Thanksgiving as Revolution Senior pin hitter, Kacey Richards signed with Seton Hall University. Seton Hall, a member institution in the Big East Conference, signed 3 other players during this signing period.

Kacey is a very long and athletic pin hitter, Seton Hall head coach, Kris Zeiter stated. She can play outside and on the right side and will be very good in serve receive for us as well. With Kaceys blocking and attacking ability, I expect her to challenge for playing time right away.

We are so proud of everything Kacey has accomplished in her time at Paradigm, Revolution head coach, CJ Denk said recently. She has an incredible college career ahead of her and we all look forward to seeing her succeed at such a great school like Seton all.
