2021 - 2022 Coaches
Paradigm Volleyball believes in the philosophy of collaborative coaching. Paradigm will incorporate various area coaches and college players to help develop and teach the individual and team skills needed to see success on and off the court.
Each Paradigm coach brings a unique amount of game play and coaching experience to practices and tournaments. It is these varying experience levels and unique backgrounds that will allow our players to develop comprehensive volleyball skill sets.

CJ has coached at the college, high school and club level for the past 18 years. After volunteering his time for two seasons at Nazareth College, CJ was named Associate Head Coach at Daemen College in Buffalo, NY. In his 2 seasons at Daemen, the Wildcats won 2 American Mideast Conference North Division Championships compiling an overall record of 55-27. CJ began coaching at the USA Volleyball club level starting in 2005. CJ coached at every age level from 14s - 18s. CJ and Megan Denk started Paradigm Volleyball in September of 2010 to help grow volleyball in the Rochester and surrounding areas. Currently, CJ gives private lessons, runs Paradigm Summer Camps, runs the NOVA Junior Beach Tour and is the Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women. CJ is also the Head Coach for the IREVA Men's Professional PVL team which placed 6th at the Premier Volleyball League National Championships in 2015. CJ continues to play competitively indoors and on the beach.
Haley is starting her second season as a coach here at Paradigm. Prior to moving to Rochester, she was the head coach for Niagara County Volleyball Club (NCVC) 15-1 team as well as assistant coach for the 16-1 team. She was also a volunteer assistant coach for the Williamsville North High School Girls Volleyball team.
As a player, Haley was a 5 year varsity starter for Williamsville North High School, receiving many accolades with Williamsville including, Erie County All County Player, Athlete of the Week, and All County Scholar Athlete, as well as holding multiple school records. Haley also played 9 years of club volleyball with NFVB, and attended Nationals four years.
Laura is starting her fourth season as a coach here at Paradigm. She previously coached for 13 years at Xtreme Volleyball Club, with the most recent 5 years focused at the 16-1 or 16-2 levels. She was also the Bloomfield Varsity Girls assistant coach for 5 years before stepping in as the head coach for 2 years until she left to focus her time on being a mom.
Laura player her high school volleyball locally at Canandaigua Academy, winning 2 Section V titles during her high school career. She played for Xtreme VBC for 5 years during her high school years She went on to start her college volleyball career at Nazareth College as a right side hitter but suffered a severe knee injury that ended her college volleyball playing days after only one year.

Steve was named the women's head volleyball coach at The College at Brockport in April of 2013. In 2014 Brockport finished in the top four in the conference and went to the SUNYAC Semi-Finals for the first time since 2007. The improvement from last(tenth) to fourth in the conference regular season was the biggest jump in one year in SUNYAC Volleyball History. In 2015, Brockport was 34-2 and undefeated in conference regular season. Brockport won the Conference championship for the first time in 21 years. Brockport won its NCAA first round match. He was named 2015 SUNYAC Coach of the Year and AVCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year. For the previous twelve, years he was the head coach at SUNY Potsdam. During his time at Potsdam, the program was the most successful program on campus. He was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2005. His teams qualified for the postseason tournament in six of those seasons, making it to the ECAC finals once for the first time in school history. He has coached the conference rookie of the year twice. In 2010, he took his team to Costa Rica which was the first international trip for volleyball in school history.
Steve is blessed with his wife Heather, children: Nicholas, Brynn and Griffin.
Rachel is starting her first season with Paradigm Volleyball, but is bringing a wealth of playing and coaching experience. As a 2018 graduate of SUNY Brockport, Rachel played as a setter winning 3 SUNYAC Championships in her 4 years as a collegiate athlete. After graduation, she stayed to coach the Brockport Women’s Volleyball team for the next two years, this time adding a conference championship to her resume as a coach in 2019. The past year Rachel worked with the Syracuse University Volleyball team as their Director of Operations, but has moved back to Rochester just in time for the 2021-2022 club season!
Nicole is in her second year coaching at Paradigm. She was the assistant coach for the 16-1’s at Paradigm in 2020-21 and the assistant coach for the 16-1’s at Hot Shots Juniors in 2019-20. Nicole is currently in her first season as the Assistant Coach for Pittsford Mendon Girls Varsity Volleyball.
Nicole is a 2012 graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School and was a member of the state finalist team. She played her club seasons with Xtreme, Rave, and VolleyFX. Nicole went on to play four years as a libero/DS at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia where she also received her doctorate in Physical Therapy.

This will be Julia's third year with Paradigm. Julia was the Midlakes High School Girls Varsity head coach for 3 seasons and continues to assist the program. She came to Midlakes after playing her college career for Keuka College. Julia also played for Midlakes during her high school career with a highlight of being named to the Section V Class B 1st team All Star team. She also played her club volleyball at Xtreme Volleyball club during her high school years.
While in college at Keuka, Julia was the Assistant Club Director and coach for Keuka Lake VBC for 3 years. She proceeded to become a coach at Xtreme Volleyball after graduating from Keuka until Xtreme disbanded in 2018. She coached for RAVE Volleyball Club during the 2018-2019 club season.
This will be Matt’s first year with Paradigm after previously coaching for 9 years at Xtreme Volleyball Club. In his time coaching club he has coached at all levels, 14’s-18’s. He is excited to be back coaching club and excited about this new opportunity at Paradigm. He is the current Varsity coach in Newark and has been since 2006.
Matt is as a Middle School Counselor in Newark. He has been in that position since 2000.
Anna was a 4 year varsity starting setter at Midlakes High School leading the Girl's Varsity team to the program's first sectional title in 2012 earning FL East and All Greater Rochester recognition. After graduating in 2014, Anna continued her career playing at Division III Houghton College where she amassed over 3200 assists and earned various E8 and NCCAA honors. Shortly after graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Anna started her coaching career staying with the Highlander's as the Women's Assistant Coach for the 2018 season. At the close of the season, Anna moved back to the Finger Lakes region after accepting a marketing job offer and continues to coach at Midlakes High School as the Girl's Varsity Assistant. This will be Anna's third season with Paradigm.

Mike has coached high school and club volleyball for the past 32 years. Previously, Mike was the head coach of the Greece Olympia, Nazareth Academy and Aquinas girls volleyball team and is now the head coach at Hilton High School Over the years, Mike's teams have won 5 sectional titles, have been runner-up 4 times and his teams have earned 9 sportsmanship awards. Mike has been named Section V Coach of the Year on 4 different occassions.
Mike joined Paradigm in 2017 and is in his 5th season.
Jake is entering his 4th year as a coach at Paradigm. He currently serves as the Pittsford Sutherland High School Girls Junior Varsity volleyball coach in his second season and assists on the varsity team with Coach Taylor Rivera. Jake was a 5 year varsity volleyball starter for Frontier HS in Buffalo. During his tenure they made 4 sectional appearances, winning 2 Section VI titles. He was named to the WNY All Start team 3 times and holds the record for assists in a game and career assists for Fronter HS. He played college volleyball for 3 years at Nazateth College and 1 year for Universidad Catolica De Valencia in Spain.
Jenna played at Penfield for her high school career. She then attended SUNY Canton, where she played as Libero all 4 years. Throughout her career at Canton, she achieved various weekly honors, Player of the Year awards all 4 years, breaking the school record for all-time digs, and being awarded All-American honors. She was a head coach at Eastside Ice for 1 season, and is now entering her first season coaching at Paradigm.

Marilyn was a 4 year varsity starter at Victor High School. She has been MVP, player of the year, All Greater Rochester, and All State. After graduating in 2008, Marilyn continued her career playing Division II volleyball at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, where she also earned MVP honors. After graduating college in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Marilyn started her coaching career. She currently competes in adult tournaments throughout the year and plays beach volleyball all summer.
Mar started her coaching career at Mercy High School in 2012 as the head coach of modified for 2 seasons. After that, she took over JV for 4 seasons. Marilyn joined Paradigm in 2013 and was the assistant coach for Revolution 18s. The next year, she became the head coach for Paradigm’s 15s team for 2 seasons. In 2016, Marilyn lived in California, coaching the 15-1 team at Momentous Volleyball club out of Irvine. Since returning to the area she been the head coach for both Paradigm's 15 and 16s teams.
Aimee will be returning for her 5th year with Paradigm Volleyball. She is a 2018 graduate from the SUNY Brockport, where she played as a libero/defensive specialist for the volleyball team during her 4 year college career. She was an Assistant Coach for the Siena College volleyball team during the 2019 season and is currently the Modified coach for Pittsford Sutherland. She played her high school volleyball at Columbia High School, where she earned Suburban Council First Team All-Star during her senior year.

Rebecca is starting her second season as a coach here at Paradigm. She was the head coach on the Uprising 12s team last season. She is also entering her third season as the JV coach at Mercy High School. She has also coached Paradigm summer camps during the last 3 years. Rebecca was a setter at Wittenberg University, where she earned setting and defensive records as well as earning numerous awards including MVP. She is married to Gary and they have three children: Sophia, Lilah (a Digm!), and Nolan.
Megan is entering her second year as an assistant coach at Paradigm. She also is in her 7th year assisting the varsity team at The Charles Finney School and has helped them win their two first ever sectional titles. Megan played volleyball and basketball at Roberts Wesleyan College. She and her husband Tom have four children: Dominic, Sarina (former Digm), Nicholas and Faith (a Digm!).
Alyse is a 2018 graduate from the University of Hartford, where she played as a middle blocker for the volleyball team during her 4 year college career there. She was also a four-year letterwinner in volleyball at Hilton High School, having being named to All Greater Rochester her senior year. She has coached at Paradigm for 4 seasons.

Brooke was a 4 year varsity starter at Our Lady of Mercy High School. After graduating in 2010, she continued her career as a setter playing Division I volleyball at the University of Hartford. After graduating college in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Multimedia Journalism, she moved to Boston to advance her career both on and off the court. While in Boston, Brooke was an assistant coach for the Division III Rams at Suffolk University and continued to compete in USAV Yankee League adult tournaments throughout Massachusetts.
After returning to Rochester in 2019, Brooke found her way back to her alma-mater, Our Lady of Mercy High School where she’s presently finishing her second season as JV assistant coach. She is excited to start her second year as the head coach for Paradigm’s Rampage team and can’t wait to watch the girls elevate their game to the next level!
This will be Kathleen's first year coaching for Paradigm. She was a 3 year Varsity member of the Webster Schroeder volleyball team and played for Paradigm during her high school career. She went on to play as a libero at SUNY Brockport. Kathleen also coached modified volleyball for East Irondequoit middle school during the 2019 fall season and continues to stay involved with the SUNY Brockport team. Kathleen is currently an elementary special education teacher.
